Kirkjufellsfoss
Kirkjufellsfoss is located in West Iceland, close to Grundarfjörður Town and Kirkjufell Mountain on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
The waterfall is small but very beautiful as it falls down in the Kirkjufellsá River, which gets its water from t a mountain ridge called Helgrindur, an extinct volcano that erupted many thousands years ago. On its way down from Helgrindur you can see a great number of beautiful waterfalls in the river Kirkjufellsá, but Kirkjufellsfoss is the most famous one.
The name Kirkjufellsfoss comes from the nearby mountain, Kirkjufell. The mountain is one of the most famous and beautiful mountains in Iceland and it is very picturesque. From the right side of the waterfall you can capture the waterfall with the breathtaking mountain in the background.
You can also experience the waterfall from above because there is an old bridge crossing the waterfall.
